Each time I have a date, [I'm in my 20's] I get nervous because they are so infrequent.
The nervousness goes from what to wear or how to relax. I've had a female former co-worker
who knows me well help me prepare. Depending on how much time I had [depending on my schedule]
she would have me "model" a couple of outfits to see what she thought. Her advice for me to
relax was to take a nap for awhile so I could be relaxed. She really liked this one outfit
because it was preppy, red 6-button polo shirt with khakis but she thought a blue cardigan
sweater would complete the outfit. After I would get ready and start to feel relaxed, she
wanted to seehow I looked and make coments in general.
Occassionally, she would button up all of the buttons on the shirt in the process of straightening the front and also button the cardigan up as well so my collar would drape down over the sweater. My date complemented my outfit that night but she thought that I could've been a less uptight in which my date thought I should've unbuttoned my top two buttons on the sweater.
This girl was only in town for a couple of days and then left so we couldn't have another date so I don't know what to think about future dates? Whether or not I should take a nap before? or to continue to wear what I wore on this date or have another friend have me pick out a good outfit?"
Just as dating in the real world requires preparation, so does your online search for love require you to be ready with the things that others are also looking for. Think of online dating as a way to place your 'singles resume' in places where other singles congregate. After all, you can't find anyone if you aren't looking and they can't find you if you're not in the same place, at the same time, that they are.
You should have at hand several digital photos of yourself ready to be
added to the online profiles you'll be creating. This is an important step
since every service you join that has the photo option will tell you that
profiles with pictures have preferred treatment, showing up first in searches,
getting more people looking at your profile and possibly even receiving free
trials or extended member benefits not available to people that do not post a
picture. If you don't own the equipment to create your own digital photos don't
worry. Almost every photofinisher has the service available to scan and save your
picture to disk. When joining online service sallow yourself the time to fully
complete your profile, adding photos and voice messages where available.
